When I think about myself as a future educator teaching music, it feels surreal. I was never very engaged in music class during my own elementary education, and felt very uncomfortable with it because I was not very good with the fine arts courses and felt very uncomfortable with them. However, after discovering my passion for teaching and providing the best learning experience for my future students I have come to appreciate the Fine Arts curriculum in a way I did not before. After much risk-taking and self-reflection this year, I have become more comfortable and have discovered the importance of integrating them into lessons and making cross-curricular connections. With the knowledge I have now, when I think of myself as an educator who will teach music, I get excited and overwhelmed with all the possibilities. I look forward to continuing my learning journey, and gaining more experience and confidence to become the best educator I can be.
