Reflection #6

As an educator who will teach music, I think my greatest personal weakness is that I am a perfectionist. I always want everything to go smoothly and have a pleasing result. However, as an educator this is impossible when working with children. So many factors can come into play, and there is never one result for a group of 20 or so students. Especially with music, there is never one perfect result, or one right answer, each student will have their own strengths and weakness. Everyone will learn at his or her own rate and with his or her own process. I will address this weakness, by reminding myself of my own learning process with music, and that I was not perfect and the result was not what I wanted at times. This will help to give me perspective and remind me that there is no one perfect result, it is about having fun, and enjoying the learning process together as a class.
